Gcash is utilizing its platform for a greener environment

GCash is not only the leading e-wallet in the Philippines, but it is also the largest platform that facilitates the conversion of digital activities into a greener environment. Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc., in partnership with major foundations like Ayala Land, World Wide Fund-Philippines, ABS-CBN Foundation, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Century Pacific Food Inc., Friends of Hope, Inc.,and other environmental institutions, is collaborating to create a movement that turns the impossible into the possible. Since its launch in 2019, Gcash users have been contributing to the utilization of Gforest features within the Gcash App, helping to rebuild forests in the Philippines. Out of the over 81 million active users of the Gcash App, 12 million are active Environmental Heroes. However, not all users are currently aware of the positive environmental actions possible through Gforest. We are here to guide you and encourage you to use Gforest within Gcash, which aids reforestation activities and contributes to a greener future.
"The Philippines is losing around 52,000 trees daily. Logging, slash-and-burn-farming, and land conversion are erasing 47,000 hectares of forest yearly – thrice the size of Quezon City. Owing to this rate, only 7.168 million hectares of forest remains, covering roughly 24% of the nation's land area." - DENR [A 'Game of Trees' written by Gregg Yan]
In the Gcash App, you can access Gforest by navigating to it. Collect your daily green energy from in-app activities like fund transfers, cashing in, and saving. Additionally, you can link Gcash to Google Fit to incorporate your greener activities, such as walking, into your green energy collection.

How GForest Works?
1. Accumulate green energy earned from in-app or greener activities.
2. Upon gathering sufficient energy, click the "Plant a Tree" button and select the tree you wish to plant.
3. After virtual planting, you will receive a certificate from the Environmental Cause Institution.
4. The trees you select will be physically planted by a foundation responsible for them, with their designated locations highlighted in the tree details.

Gcash employs its platform to empower users in making eco-conscious choices and participating actively in environmental conservation.
