According to the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for the second quarter of 2024, the agri commodities declined by 3.3% due to the annual decreases in the values of crops and livestock production during this period.

"Poultry and fisheries values reportedly contribute significantly increment in this period. Which fisheries was valued at PhP 60.40 billion, grew by 2.2 percent year-on-year. It shared 14.6 percent of the total value of production in agriculture and fisheries in the second quarter of 2024." -PSA Report
Fishery production during this period has a positive contribution to the country's agricultural outputs but due to the continuous aggression practice of the Chinese Coast Guard, the possibility of losses will result in the reduction of fish caught by fishermen and the large fishing industry.

In the upcoming years, China will never stop grabbing the full areas claimed by Beijing since they have the power to execute of what the Chinese government wants to do in the South China Sea. If so, Philippines fish supplies will continue to decline and we will be starting to import fish to fulfill the needs of Filipinos.

Fish and other imported commodities may increase in price due to tariffs and other costs if China turns over the whole area of the South China Sea. The Philippines will be deprived. Philippine will become dependent fully on Chinese products and services in the instance.
