Landbank launched Lending Program for Agriculture Graduates, Farmers and fishers

AGRISENSO PLUS LENDING PROGRAM OF LANDBANK OF THE PHILIPPINES

Landbank of the Philippines, a state bank, launched an enhanced loan program for farmers, fishermen, agribusiness, and agriculture graduates. This lending program aims to make financing easy and accessible for farmers. In the last article titled "Resilient way for Philippines Government to address Financial Support to Farmers" we shared farmers's experiences on how they tag-of-war on the price of commodities they had produced to the informal financial providers. We also mentioned that the "significant financial problem faced by farmers in agriculture is the limited access to formal credit and insurance services." This is also based on a related study in India. 

The state bank wants financing services more accessible to farmers at a low interest rate and minimal requirements. The small farmers and fishermen, agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are those target clients to benefit from the offer of Landbank.

"AGRISENSO Plus reflects LANDBANK's commitment to providing holistic and meaningful support to the entire agriculture sector. Through strategic collaborations with public and private partners, we are complementing accessible credit with insurance benefits, capacity-building, and other interventions to boost productivity, enhance income, drive sustainable growth, and contribute to national food security," said Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz on the report of GMA News

The AGRISENSO Plus offers an interest rate of 4.0% per annum for small farmers, fishers, and ARBs, including free life insurance and credit life insurance. Landbank gives 6.5%-7.5% per annum to other eligible borrowers under the program.

The existing AGRISENSO borrowers will automatically become AGRISENSO Plus eligible.
